AI Social Impact Challenge

The AI Social Impact Challenge is Inception Maryland's annual statewide competition — designed to surface, test, and scale AI-enabled solutions that address seemingly intractable challenges to expanded economic opportunity across Maryland.

Unlike traditional grant programs, the Challenge is a competitive platform combining rigorous evaluation with real-world testing — emphasizing solutions grounded in lived experience, measurable impact, and ethical, responsible AI deployment.

The Challenge welcomes bold ideas from Maryland's nonprofit sector, private sector, academic institutions, and community organizations — with a particular emphasis on solutions that can reach underserved communities including rural Eastern Shore, Western Maryland, and Southern Maryland populations.
